2016 has been a tough year for fans and non-fans alike, as the world just became a sadder place. A lot of important public figures have died and they left some pretty big shoes for the next generations to fill. George Michael, Carrie Fisher, Prince, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Muhammad Ali, Alan Rickman and others have made the list of sorrow. Now it seems that 2017 is not over and it has already claimed the lives of some of the much-loved movie stars and singers. Here is a list of the celebrities we have already lost this year and we can only hope that it ends here.

John Heard
Although Macaulay Culkin is the ultimate star of Home Alone, we could not picture the movie without the whole McCallister family. The father, Peter McCallister, was played by actor John Heard. Among other projects the actor was involved in, we mention The Sopranos, Big, Beaches, Awakenings, The Pelican Brief, My Fellow Americans and many more. Unfortunately, John Heard died on July 21st, only two days after having undergone back surgery.
Chester Bennington

The news of the death of Chester Bennington has come as a great shock to everybody. In seems that the singer had been struggling with severe depression for many years. The 41-year-old artist was the lead singer with Linkin Park. The band experienced commercial success for the first time in 2000 with the Hybrid Theory album. Later on, album after album, it only consolidated the band’s success. Chester Bennington died on July 20th, the birthday of one of his best friends, unfortunately also on this list of celebrities who died in 2017.
Martin Landau
89-year-old actor Martin Landau died on July 15th. He was a representative of an older generation of actors and his biography includes playing a supporting role in an Alfred Hitchcock movie, North by Northwest and the role of Bela Lugosi in the 1994 movie Ed Wood. He won an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award. The actor died in a hospital, due to complications.
Nelsan Ellis
True Blood fans got some really bad news on July 8th when the actor playing Lafayette Reynolds died. Among other roles you may have seen Ellis in was the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in The Butler, and Bobby Byrd, a friend of James Brown in the biographical movie Get on Up. Nelsan Ellis died at the age of 39 due to heart failure. The actors had been struggling to quit drinking and this is a complication that appears in the case of alcohol withdrawal syndrome.
Adam West

June 9th was the day the very first Batman actor, Adam West, died. He was 88 and he had an amazing career. The great thing about Adam West was the fact that he had become emblematic of DC Comics. Younger viewers may know Adam West from the voiceovers he did for The Simpsons and Family Guy, where he played fictional versions of himself.
